Read the off-ball screen, don't script the cut
Redondo develops the off-ball screen as a teaching sequence. The passer, screener and receiver all need sound technique, while the receiver's route depends on the defender's choice.

- Begin with the pass into the low post in 3v3. An off-ball screen then moves a perimeter player while clearing space for the post player to attack.
- If the defender chases over the screen, curl into the lane. If the defender goes underneath, use the screen to separate toward an outside catch.
- If defenders switch, look for the screener's new advantage. A helping defender can also free the screener to pop out.
